ARTIST FEEDBACK

Video Camera

RECORDING YOUR VIDEOS

When recording your video make sure you have a nice backdrop or in a good public location as viewers don’t just look at the Artist who’s performing but also look at the scenery around them which can help catch the public eye.

Make sure the device you’re using is stable if you are by yourself, so investing in Tripods are very handy indeed or make sure someone can hold your device so you don’t have to worry about where to locate it. Having good lighting is a good tip also if you’re not familiar with editing on a computer but try to be as natural as possible.

Try to be in a good distance away from the camera, not to far away or not to close up. This helps with video sound recording quality.

SELECTING MUSIC FOR YOUR ACT

Only you know the type of music which is best to perform with, once you know what type of performer you want to be then choosing music will become easier along the way. Having original music is great which makes you more unique than others but using commercial music that fits your style or act is also just as good. There’s so much music to choose from which can make hard decisions especially when it comes to auditions.

PREPARING FOR A LIVE / ONLINE PERFORMANCE

Never leave it to the last minute to prepare for a performance wether it’s online or live. “Fail to prepare then prepare to fail” so to avoid this think in advance and don’t be afraid to ask anyone for help. Get in touch with the producers/organisers for advice on what you need for that show.

Write it down, type it in your phone and add to the list when and need be. Rehearse as much as possible and have a pre show with friends and family before the actual live or online show begins.

SELECTING A NAME FOR YOUR ACT

Sometimes people use their own name for their stage name, this is the most simple and common way to choose if your name is distinctive enough to use publicly. This only works best for solo Acts and not groups.

Choosing a group name is much harder and might take some time to discover as everyone in the group will want input. Try to think of things that best describes you/your act and eventually you will have created your Act name.

Try to avoid picking the same name as others as you want to be different and unique.
